Presentation1 by Peter Reynders: The Evolution of Project Management Methods
This presentation explores four major project management approaches:
- Waterfall (Stage-Gate®): A structured, sequential approach suited to projects with clearly defined requirements.
- Agile: An iterative, flexible approach that emphasizes collaboration, feedback, and adaptation.
- Agile/Waterfall Hybrids: Combinations of structured planning and agile execution, balancing predictability with flexibility.
- Domain Models: Separation of features as cost elements from products, focus on revenue streams
Today all four approaches are widely used in practice. We will discuss when each method is most appropriate, considering factors such as project complexity, uncertainty, and stakeholder expectations. Real-life examples will illustrate their respective advantages and disadvantages and demonstrate how selecting the right approach can contribute to project success.
