Communicating and Working Better Across Cultures

In this session, Silke Deul, Principal Project Manager and PMP®, will explore how cultural differences influence collaboration and what project managers can do to navigate them more effectively. The presentation will offer practical insights into improving communication, building trust, and fostering alignment in multicultural environments.
Participants will reflect on how cultural norms shape decision-making and teamwork, and consider strategies to reduce misunderstandings and strengthen inclusion across borders.

Speaker
Bio Silke Deul is a project manager with a Master’s in Civil Engineering from Germany and more than 15 years of experience leading projects across four continents. She has delivered initiatives ranging from small programs to complex projects in industries such as energy, construction and manufacturing. Now based in New Zealand, Silke runs her own consultancy, helping organizations improve project delivery through communication, transparency, and risk management. An active member of PMI New Zealand, she brings a global perspective on how cultural differences influence projects and how project managers can navigate these challenges.
