Study Group Session - Business environment: Manage and control change (Helmut Schneider)

From Change to Controlled Action:
Regulatory requirements, technological developments, organizational changes, or simply changing stakeholder requirements can have a significant impact on projects.

In this interactive online workshop, participants will work on a practical change scenario and combine three central tasks of the PMP® Exam Content Outline 2026:

1. Manage and Control Changes (ECO DIII-T3)

2. Support Organizational Change (ECO DIII-T7)

3. Evaluate External Business Environment Changes (ECO DIII-T8)

Together we develop a structured approach:

Recognize change → evaluate impact on scope and backlog → involve stakeholders → implement them in a controlled manner
Practical, interactive and with a clear PMP® exam reference.

At this event, our new members have the opportunity to ask questions about topics that interest them in connection with the PMI Germany Chapter community. The open dialogue in the early evening is moderated by Jörg Glunde, Vice President of Membership of PMI Germany Chapter e.V., possibly together with other volunteers from the PMI Germany Chapter.

Study Group - People: Adaptive Leadership and Conflict Resolution in Project Environments (Michelle Caicedo)

Conflict is not an exception in project environments, it is part of working with different priorities, expectations, personalities, and pressures. The challenge for project professionals is not necessarily to eliminate conflict, but to recognize it early, understand what is driving it, and adapt their leadership approach to the situation.

In this one-hour workshop, we will explore conflict resolution and adaptive leadership through the lens of the PMBOK® Guide – Eighth Edition, with particular attention to accountable leadership, empowered teams, stakeholder engagement, resources, and tailoring leadership responses to the project context.

Participants will work through practical project scenarios to identify the source and dynamics of conflict, consider different response strategies, and reflect on when a project manager should facilitate, challenge, negotiate, coach, or escalate.

Chaptermeeting Frankfurt @Ernst&Young

There will be 2 Presentations separated by a break to network.

Presentation1 by Peter Reynders: The Evolution of Project Management Methods

This presentation explores four major project management approaches:

  • Waterfall (Stage-Gate®): A structured, sequential approach suited to projects with clearly defined requirements.
  • Agile: An iterative, flexible approach that emphasizes collaboration, feedback, and adaptation.
  • Agile/Waterfall Hybrids: Combinations of structured planning and agile execution, balancing predictability with flexibility.
  • Domain Models: Separation of features as cost elements from products, focus on revenue streams

Today all four approaches are widely used in practice. We will discuss when each method is most appropriate, considering factors such as project complexity, uncertainty, and stakeholder expectations. Real-life examples will illustrate their respective advantages and disadvantages and demonstrate how selecting the right approach can contribute to project success.
