The Global Construction Project Management Conference 2026 was a great success. Speakers and participants from five continents came together virtually to discuss current developments, challenges and future perspectives in construction project management.
For the PMI Germany Chapter, it was a great pleasure to contribute to this international conference and to join forces with other PMI chapters in setting a strong example of cross-border collaboration within the PMI community.
The conference focused on key topics that are shaping construction project management today and in the future: artificial intelligence in project management, BIM and digital transformation, advanced planning and control, budgeting in capital projects, contracts and claims, risk management, as well as mega and giga projects.
The contributions clearly showed how the complexity of construction project management is increasing — driven by new technologies, global supply chains, more demanding governance structures and growing requirements for communication and collaboration.
At the same time, one message became very clear: technology is an important driver, but it does not replace the human factor. Leadership, trust, stakeholder management, intercultural collaboration and sound decision-making structures remain decisive for successful projects.
The international exchange across countries and chapter boundaries was particularly valuable. The conference demonstrated the potential of true cross-chapter collaboration when volunteers and professional communities combine their perspectives, networks and experience.
Following this successful event, we are already looking ahead: another international conference on construction project management, mega projects and giga projects is planned for the coming year.
Anyone interested in advancing these topics within the PMI Germany Chapter, contributing professional insights or helping shape future formats is warmly invited to get in touch: volunteering@pmi-gc.de
We look forward to hearing from everyone who would like to help us further develop construction project management within the PMI community.
