At the PM-Summit 2025, around 60 participants joined the workshop “Achieving Better Project Success with Power Skills and Artificial Intelligence” to explore how project management is evolving in an AI-driven world. The key insight was clear: AI can support us — but project success still relies heavily on the Power Skills of project managers. Based on the strong interest, the PMI Germany Chapter is reshaping the former General PM CoP into the new Power Skills CoP.
On 11 November 2025, one central question guided the discussion at the PM-Summit: How do we ensure project success as AI becomes an integral part of our daily work?
In the workshop “Achieving Better Project Success with Power Skills and Artificial Intelligence,” the 60 participants quickly pinpointed the crucial lever. AI can support decision-making, structure information and streamline routine tasks. But the decisive factors remain the Power Skills of project managers.
PMI® defines Power Skills as competencies in communication, collaborative leadership, problem solving and strategic thinking. These skills ensure that decisions are well-grounded, risks are assessed, stakeholders are engaged and teams are guided even in uncertain situations. This is exactly where the new Power Skills CoP will focus its work.
The activities of the former General PM CoP have already shown how valuable this exchange can be. Our volunteers Maria Robe and Oliver Dening spent several months exploring change management in projects together with their CoP members, generating practical insights that we will publish soon in the Chapter Magazine or through other channels.
Building on this foundation, we are now realigning the General PM CoP. Going forward, it will operate as the Power Skills CoP, supporting project managers in applying their personal competencies more effectively in an AI- and digitally shaped environment. Planned activities include topic-focused sessions, practical case discussions, expert exchanges and formats for experimenting with tools and methods.
If you are interested in actively contributing to the Power Skills CoP, we would be delighted to hear from you.
