Apply your project management knowledge to work for real impact! As a PM coach in the PMI Germany Chapter as part of the Social Responsibility Initiative, you will support NGOs and NPOs while strengthening your coaching skills and actively helping to shape sustainable projects.
The PM coach as a catalyst for sustainable projects
Founded as an initiative some time ago, we at PMI Germany Chapter have made it our mission to contribute to social impact, particularly since the initiation of the partnership between PMI and the United Nations (UN). Since April of this year, ambassadors have been working on a voluntary basis in all regions of the chapter to identify relevant topics and organisations with which we would like to engage in dialogue and, ideally, enter into cooperation. This is the case, for example, in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.
For us, social responsibility means using project management to create a better future. With the PMI Germany Chapter initiative, we support non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and non-profit organisations (NPOs) in making their goals clearer, their projects more structured and their impact more sustainable. Our ambassadors are active throughout Germany, and anyone can get involved.
As a PM coach, you accompany NGOs on an equal footing – not operationally, but as a sparring partner. You help to sharpen goals, clarify roles, plan resources realistically and reflect on the impact in a sustainable manner. Your contribution: methodological impetus, reflection and moderation so that teams can implement their projects in a clearer, more structured and more effective manner.
Specifically, this means:
- Sharpening project goals
- Clarifying roles and responsibilities
- Planning resources realistically
- Reflecting on impact and sustainability
To do this, you will use tools and methods from our toolbox and can conduct short formats such as ‘60-minute impulse coaching’ sessions for NGO start-ups.
Imagine how, as a PM coach, you can help students implement specific projects, provide impetus and see how, for example, an app is created.
Marcus Andrä's example shows what this can look like. He accompanied a group of students in the development of a city guide app (as part of their project seminar at school) over a period of almost 10 months.
“I really enjoyed working with the students! It was particularly nice to see how they directly applied the project management methods they had learned, giving them an exciting insight into theory and practice. In the end, they were rewarded with the successful launch of their app.”
