During the Membership Meeting on 26 November 2025, the formal resolutions were passed to implement the New Membership Model in the PMI Germany Chapter.
What is the New Membership Model?
With the New Membership Model – often referred to as Single Membership – PMI membership and Chapter membership are combined into one single membership. Members who join PMI from February 2026 onwards, or who renew their membership after this date, will automatically be assigned to their “home chapter,” which in our case is the PMI Germany Chapter.
Why is PMI introducing the New Membership Model?
From the outside, it has often been unclear why PMI members are not automatically part of a Chapter and therefore cannot directly benefit from what a Chapter offers. This is exactly what will now change. The new membership model simplifies the joining process significantly, making it more transparent and user-friendly.
All members will receive equal access to PMI’s global resources – including free digital access to standards and frameworks, projectmanagement.com, the Business Reading Center with a wide range of professional journals, and much more – as well as to the offerings of the local Chapters, from events and networking to training and knowledge exchange.
The PMI membership will no longer distinguish between PMI and Chapter membership; it will become a true Single Membership.
What changes for me as a member?
Existing Chapter members will automatically become part of a much larger community – with more opportunities, more exchange, and greater visibility. With this transition, the PMI Germany Chapter’s membership base is expected to more than double over the course of 2026, making it the largest regional professional association for project management in Germany.
There will be no financial changes for existing Chapter members. The membership fee – consisting of the PMI fee and the PMI Germany Chapter fee – remains unchanged.
