Online event LG Darmstadt: You, Me, and the Bots: A Serious Conversation on AI and Our Profession

Online event LG Darmstadt: You, Me, and the Bots: A Serious Conversation on AI and Our Profession

Abstract:

AI is having an impact on our profession, but we really don’t know the actual results.  This session looks into our magic 8 Ball of the Future and will have a serious discussion of what AI is and how it might impact our future as project professionals.  This discussion has a few baseline assumptions that must be framed to get the most out of our time together.  1) Roles, or job titles, are not that important – we need to focus on skills and competencies. 2) The Social ecosystem will have great influence on all processes. 3) Human / Bot interaction will be extremely dynamic and subject to many gray areas.

The session will discuss current processes and what is most likely to be modified due to the AI capability on existing skills and competencies.  For example, will AI completely change the definition and application of business rules for a solution?  Will AI be more involved in resource allocation and capacity management? and will AI be involved in conducting gap analysis between a current and future state?  But most importantly, how (or who) will validate that the AI content/knowledge generation is correct?

Learning Objectives:

  1. The attendee will be able to articulate possible AI impact on the Business Analysis, Project Manager, and Change Manager skill set.
  2. The attendee will be able to present examples on how a human will validate / challenge / correct incorrect AI output.
  3. The attendee will be able to explain the importance of the way a “prompt” is presented to an AI tool to provide valuable content.

Summary:

AI presents threats, challenges, opportunities, and adventures.  As professionals we will need to be able to incorporate “features” of AI in order to enhance our skills and competencies to deliver value in the future.  We will explore how that is happening now, how it will happen in the future, and how it will change the way we deliver value. Automation of Routine Tasks, Advanced Analytics and Predictive Insights, Enhanced Planning, Stakeholder Analysis, Risk Management, Augmented Decision-Making, Intelligent Process Automation, Ethical and Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) Implementation, and Intelligent Assistance, are skills projected to be impacted by AI.  This presentation will discuss this impact and how we can embrace the challenges and prepare for our future.
