With the course “Practical Application of Generative AI for Project Managers”, PMI has created an innovative training program that specifically opens up the possibilities of GenAI for project managers. The course offers practical examples of the use of GenAI to support day-to-day project management work.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) has unveiled its groundbreaking Project Success Report, a comprehensive study redefining how project success is understood and measured. This pivotal report, informed by responses from over 10,000 professionals and 150 in-depth interviews, challenges conventional metrics and introduces a holistic framework that prioritizes outcomes and value creation.

The year is drawing to a close - an opportunity to look back on our chapter activities in 2024 and look ahead to what awaits us in 2025.

It cannot be repeated often enough: Our volunteers are the backbone of the chapter! They keep the chapter running. Many thanks to all of you who have supported the chapter again this year and helped to move it forward with your commitment and dedication.

The PM Summit 2024 in Munich is just over. We are already back in full swing planning and preparing for the PM Summit 2025 on November 11 and 12, 2025 in Hamburg.

On November 25 and 26, 2024, numerous participants from the world of project management experienced an event in Munich at the PM Summit 2024 of the PMI Germany Chapter that lived up to its principle “From practice for practice” in every respect. With exciting presentations, practical workshops and inspiring keynotes, the congress was a real highlight for all those who not only plan projects, but also implement them and are looking for new impetus for their daily work.

The latest edition of PMI's Global Megatrends Report is here - and it packs a punch! With a clear focus on the key challenges and opportunities of our time, the report highlights the megatrends that are shaping not only the project management profession, but also our society. This year, the report focuses on three major topics: people, planet and innovation.

Good news: Now, the Study Group of the PMI Germany Chapter will be continued! The German Study Group supports the development of project management professionals, especially those seeking CAPM or PMP certification. Through a series of carefully planned sessions, the German Study Group provides participants with invaluable insights and skills while supporting the mission of the PMI Germany Chapter to promote the practice of project management.

On September 19, 2024, the first event of the Community of Practice (CoP) Green Energy & Environment of the PMI Germany Chapter e. V. took place, an exciting presentation that met with great interest.

Our guest was Prof. Dr. Stefan Liebing, an international expert in green energy and hydrogen, shared valuable insights on the development and challenges of green hydrogen projects in Africa. Prof. Liebing, who served as President of the German-African Business Association (Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft) for 11 years, highlighted both the opportunities and the hurdles within this emerging field. 

How can project professionals drive true transformation and innovation? By deeply understanding GenAI and strategically applying it to create new value.

PMI's research shows the gap between the “pioneers”, who are already using generative AI in project management on a large scale, and the “explorers”, who are still at the beginning. The pioneers are using GenAI in various projects, increasing productivity, creativity and organizational change.

The discrepancy between the two typologies shows that some project professionals are still unsure where to start, while others are moving forward and harnessing the potential of GenAI to revolutionize project management.
