On 26 and 27 September 2024, experts, scientists and practitioners will meet in Friedberg for the tenth time to discuss new developments and innovative approaches in project management.

The PVM is the joint annual conference of the project management and process modelling sections of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI). It offers a unique platform where experts, scientists and practitioners come together to present and discuss the latest research results, innovative approaches and proven process models in project management.

The time has finally come. The winners of the first Volunteer Awards of the PMI Germany Chapter have been chosen.

Life sciences is a very broad field that generally deals with the study of living organisms and their interactions with the environment. Applications include healthcare, medicine, biotechnology, agriculture and food production.

The Community of Practice (CoP) - Life Sciences consists of dedicated PMI members with diverse expertise and extensive professional experience in the fields of pharmacy, biotechnology, laboratory technology and medical technology. Dear Chapter Members,

In a kind of column, I have decided to regularly address important topics of the PMI Germany Chapter, the PMI as a whole or topics that are important to me. I would like to start with a matter close to my heart: volunteering and volunteers.

When I meet our volunteers at events, I am always deeply overwhelmed by their commitment and visible enthusiasm. Their eyes sometimes sparkle with dazzling pride, comparable to that of an Olympic champion on his podium. Even after hours of effort under great pressure, the intense joy at the success they have achieved testifies to their dedication and passion.

On November 25/26, 2024, the next Germany-wide PMI event, the PM-Summit 2024, will take place in Munich.

Promoting and advancing the application of professional project management in all areas of society is the overriding goal of PMI. With over 700,000 members, PMI is the world's largest organization in this field. For many, simply being a member of this great family is a benefit in itself. However, being a member of PMI and the PMI Germany Chapter also brings many other benefits. These are often not even known. For this reason, we are going on a search for you and presenting a "Benefit of the Month" every month.

Artificial intelligence (AI) will profoundly change project management. It can automate tasks, analyze data and support well-founded decisions. AI-supported tools improve scheduling, risk assessment and resource allocation. Project managers benefit from more precise forecasts and more efficient workflows. Communication with stakeholders is improved through AI-supported analyses and reports. Overall, AI will boost productivity and increase the chances of project success by taking over routine tasks and providing valuable insights that complement human capabilities.

GenAI offers the great promise that projects can be carried out more successfully through its use. Corresponding tools are increasingly available, cost-effective and becoming ever easier to use.

However, the introduction of GenAI in an organization's project management is more than just the introduction of a new tool. It is about bringing about organizational change. GenAI is a transformative technology that will revolutionize project management practices and the entire discipline of project management and the processes behind it.

The course "Data Landscape of GenAI for Project Managers" is a very good illustration of what to consider when implementing it and also includes a canvas that helps project managers to better understand and manage the opportunities and challenges in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics and enables a structured approach to integrating data and AI into project management activities.

Until now, however, there has been a lack of focus on how this technology can be specifically deployed and used in project management, which factors facilitate its introduction and who the drivers of such an introduction are.

Following a smaller study in 2022, the results of which were published under the title „Artifical Intelligenca and Project Management“, the PMI Sweden Chapter 2023, in cooperation with many chapters worldwide, including the PMI Germany Chapter, conducted intensive surveys among project managers about Experiences in the use and the extent of personal use of AI in project management as well as skills in the field and also forecasts for the future.

The study had a total of 2,314 participants from 129 countries. The key findings and essential statistical data were summarized and published at the beginning of the year in the report "Artificial Intelligence and Project Management: A Global Chapter Led Survey 2024"
